Special Plan of the Port

The Port Authority of Málaga will finish an ambitious project of extension that will be an important incentive for the traffic of cruises, this year. With the development of this Plan, we show our cruise vocation and our aim of becoming base-port of the West Mediterranean.

The first stage of this Plan started with the extension of the East Dock into the sea in almost one kilometer, this together with the mooring capacity of the port, mean offering 2500 linear mooring meters of 20 m of depth, to the cruise ships.

The Plan include the construction of a modern passenger terminal equipped with the latest technology for providing the cruise passenger with every kind of services, several leisure centres about the underwater world, commercial premises, cafeterias, restaurants, park and garden zones and entertainment areas that will provide a welcoming atmosphere by the historical centre of the city. This project enables us to welcome the biggest cruises of the world.

The Port of Málaga uses the quays that are nearest to the city for the cruise traffic, in such a way that it takes the passenger only five minutes to get to the tourist and commercial centre of Málaga for visitng its varied historical offer and monuments.
