For the tourist that arrives to the "Costa del Sol" and has only one day at his disposal for seeing the essential of the city of Málaga, there is a basic itinerary:

This trip starts with the wonderful gardens of Pedro Luis Alonso, typical garden of the Muslim times, from where you can behold a beautiful view of the Gibralfaro Castle. By them, the Town Hall, characteristic example of the native architecture from Málaga of the beginnings of the century. Following this route, we find the Alcazaba and the Roman Theatre that lead directly into the Picasso House, headquarters of the Picasso Foundation, that keeps pictures and pottery of the artist inside, some of his pictorical work can be admired in the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts, a Renaissance building of the XVI century. Later on, we meet the Square of the Obispo, from which you can see the Episcopal Palace (XVIII century), the exhuberant barroque facade and the solemn Renaissance interior of the Cathedral, calling our attention the choir-stalls by Pedro de Mena, masterpiece of the barroque esculpture of our country.

Outside the city centre, you can enjoy the varied botanical, natural and ornithologist richness of the garden "La Concepción", with almost half a century of life, is a real spectacle and gives us the sensation of being just in a tropical jungle. This garden together with the park of Málaga, are the two best collections of tropical and subtropical flora in Spain and they are considered among the best in all Europe.




History

Málaga is the capital of one of the most important tourist zones of the world, the "Costa del Sol".

Its strategic nearness to the North of Africa has always favoured the settlings of differents people like the Phoenicians, the Greek, the Romans and the Arabs, providing us with a historic legacy of enormous richness.

The city is a required stop when arriving to the Coast, by air, through the airport, one of the most important ones of the Peninsula; and by sea, through one of the most famous cruise ports in Europe.
